During our stay I heard other guests complain of tummy trouble following eating at the Yokooso restaurant I would give it a miss. The next day I was unwell spending sometime on the toilet. The experience was a lot of show and little substance. A lot of the plates were badly chipped, not presenting a good image. The chef started with a lot of utensil tossing which to my wife and I was not very entertaining. The set menus is starter of sushi followed by a soup which was barely warm then two small pieces of beef tepenyahki two small pieces of satay chicken neither of which tasted anything like advertised three shelled prawnd and approximately four desert spoons of farely tasteless fried rice. I suffer with extreme anxiety and PTSD had I known the seating arrangements I would not have attended. After completing the main meal you move to smaller tables for desert. You are seated eight guests around one hibachi type griddle where a set menu is cooked. The Yokooso Japanese themed was not as expected, nothing listed anywhere as to how it works. The Blue Moon French themed and the La Doce Vita Italian themed are very good. The request was refused maybe French fries are rare and expensive. La Charro serves Mexican dishes for lunch and dinner, however do not ask for French fries if they are not listed as part of the dish as I did. Replenishment of empty dishes is very hit and miss and no salt and pepper on the tables which left food tasting very bland. The buffet restaurant feels like a school canteen and other than breakfast, meal choices are not great. Waiter bar service provided by Adrian who was helpful cheerful and entertaining an asset to the hotel. Reported faults at the very first opertunity but nothing was done to rectify them Two pools well presented maintained and clean. The room was quite large and clean but in need of a serious update water scale over shower door, slats missing on aircon unit and signs of a previous water leak, door hanging off of cupboard where mini bar situated so that it dragged on the floor. He made me take my own bags but still expected a tip. Bellboy was not happy to carry our bags, moaning they were heavy (no heavier than 23kg flight allowance). I on the other hand sat partly on the seat and partly on the tubular armrest, uncomfortable and dangerous. Taken to our room by bellboy in a two seater golf buggy, my wife sat in the middle next to the driver. The grounds are surrounded by pleasant and well maintained gardens. On arrival the hotel looked very nice and reception is very very nice. La Charro serves Mexican dishes for lunch and dinner, however do not ask for French fries if they are not listed.
